ABOUT US

The Nirmala Institute of Education – Pedro Arrupe Institute (NIE-PAI) Mediation and Reconciliation Programme is a special project put together by the educators at the Goa missions of Society of the Daughters of the Heart of Mary and the Society of Jesus. For many years now, these respected Institutes, based in Altinho and Raia, have molded hundreds of professionals in Goa, both intellectually and spiritually. Building upon decades of inspirational work, the two Institutes now aim to contribute to the community via collaborative conflict resolution services.

Mediation is a structured yet informal and flexible, confidential conflict resolution process in which an impartial third party helps two or more participants better understand their issues, interests and needs and empower them to bridge their difference through a voluntary agreement.

People face different kinds of issues in their homes, work place and elsewhere which sometimes could lead to a tragic end. To prevent such events, our focus is to provide assistance to the parties in a dispute.

For this reason, our goal is to set up two desks:

South Goa:

Raia (Pedro Arrupe Institute)

North Goa:

Altinho Panaji (Nirmala Institute of Education)

Projetct Goals / Impact

- To provide an opportunity to address the situation before the problem accelerate.

- Offer professional mediation services to people battling family disputes (matrimonial, property, housing), workplace disputes, disputes among local businesses.
